Wonderland station is on the part of the Blue Line that uses overhead lines instead of third rail.

The station is also served by many bus local bus routes:
Several express bus routes operate to Haymarket or Downtown Crossing in downtown Boston but are cut back to Wonderland Station during the weekends.
The name "Wonderland" originates with the old Wonderland Amusement Park, which operated at the site from 1906 to 1911. The station is the former site of a Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad station called Bath House station. The blue line was originally intended to extend to Lynn; but was cut short due to budgetary constraints. Plans are now under discussion to extend Blue Line service to Lynn. Options include creating a new stop on the commuter rail for transfers at Wonderland, along with two other options which would include actually extending the line.[1]
The station was closed for approximately one year starting on June 25, 1994, as the station was rebuilt. The Blue Line temporarily ended at Orient Heights and buses served the closed stations during the $467 million improvement project to upgrade four stations on the line. The station officially re-opened on June 24, 1995.[2]
The title of the 1998 film Next Stop Wonderland refers to this station.
